Obituary of Laura A. Torrani

Laura Ann Torrani, a cherished resident of Madison, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 74 years old.

Laura is survived by her husband, John E. Torrani; one son, John-Peter Torrani and his wife Heather; one daughter, Danielle Dixon and her husband Justin; four cherished grandchildren, Hailey, Avery, JJ and Wyatt; one brother, Earl McKenzie and his wife Helen; and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Laura was predeceased by her sister, Susan Ladd.

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts to the late Earl and Ann McKenzie, Laura was raised in Chatham where she shared a joyful childhood with her brother and sister after the family relocated when she was just six years old. A proud graduate of Chatham High School, Laura carried the values of her upbringing throughout her life.

In 1972, Laura married her beloved husband, John, and together they built a beautiful life in Madison. As devoted parents to their two children, Danielle and John-Peter, Laura and John never missed a sports event, always cheering from the sidelines and instilling a sense of support and love in their family. Laura's greatest joy came from her role as a grandmother to her four grandchildren, with whom she shared countless precious moments.

Laura was known for her warm and welcoming spirit, always making others feel at home. Her laughter and kindness drew friends and family close, and she cherished the time spent with her wonderful group of friends, creating lasting memories on many trips together.

Professionally, Laura was an integral part of her husband's business, Madison Auto Body, where she served as office manager. Before her children were grown, she also worked as an administrative assistant at Warner Lambert and Morristown Medical Center. Later in life, she enjoyed serving as a waitress at Rocco's Restaurant in Madison during lunch hours, where her friendly demeanor brightened the days of many patrons.

Laura had a passion for the simple pleasures in life, whether it was swimming on a warm summer day or indulging in her favorite treat-black licorice. Her zest for life and her ability to find joy in everyday moments will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Laura will be deeply missed and forever loved. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who are eternally grateful for the love she shared as a mother, wife and grandmother. In honoring her legacy, they will carry forward the warmth and kindness that defined her life.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation for Laura to be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Madison Memorial Home, 159 Main Street, Madison.
