Laura Watts, 88, passed away on Saturday, November 15 at Peace Healthcare at Lions Center, surrounded by her family.
Born February 15, 1937, she was the daughter of Oliver M. Evans, Sr. and Edna (Stewart) Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three of her children, Debbie Haines, Vicki Billips, and Marty Watts; her grandson, Blaine Watts; her ten siblings; and her daughter-in-law, Kay Foreman, who she considered a daughter. Laura was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Laura worked at the Celanese until they closed. Then was a caregiver and housekeeper for several area families. She was an active member of the Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren. She especially loved preparing soup and bread for the sales, as well as Easter and Christmas candy. Besides helping the community, she especially loved her family and spending time with them.
Surviving is her daughter, Cindy Conrad; her eleven grandchildren, Ray Haines (Tennille), Marty Watts (Joi), Tina Billips (Chris), Tabitha Rhodes (Stacy), Brandy Haslam (Earl), Candice Bell (Daniel), Austin Watts (Amanda), Chris Clites (Amber), Ashley Wolford (Aaron), and Tiffany Watts; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that she loved; and her daughter-in-law, Sharon Watts.
Her family will be receiving friends on Thursday, November 20 at Wiley Ford Church of the Brethren from noon until 1:00pm. A Memorial Service will follow with Pastor Ken Hamilton officiating.
In honor of Laura's memory, the family requests donations be made to Scarpelli Funeral Home,P.A. to help with expenses.
