Oliver Wheaton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 20, 2025.
Oliver "Chopper" Ralph Wheaton, 78, of Huntington Park, CA left this world unexpectedly November 14, 2025 surrounded by his family with whom he was visiting in Flintstone, MD.
He was born on June 19, 1947 in Guadalajara, Mexico to the late Ralph and Carmen Wheaton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his long time partner, Gwendolyn Sue French; a half-sister, Sterlene Masland; and a niece, Elaine Elbert.
He graduated from Huntington Park High School and by the time he graduated he was fluent in English, Spanish, and French. Oliver served his country with the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam era veteran. He served for four years and was discharged at the rank of sergeant, and was awarded a Bronze Star for his service. He then worked for the City of Los Angeles in flood control. Later he worked for the Walt Disney-Buena Vista Corp in security on the Queen Mary in LA, and had the opportunity to meet many celebrities. He worked security at the ARCO Towers and then became the loading dock manager until his retirement.
From a young age he was a motorcycle enthusiast working on, riding, and loving Harley Davidsons. He first joined the Wheelers M.C. and later Chosen Few M.C. in 2003 which he remained loyal to until his untimely passing.
He was an avid reader of books and instilled a passion for reading in his daughter and granddaughter. Everyone will remember his wickedly dark sense of humor. Above all he loved spending time with his family, friends, and club brothers.
Surviving him is a daughter, Janel Carmen Wheaton-Erekson and her husband Fenn Erekson; granddaughters, Amanda Ivester and husband Chris, Ansley McDonald and husband Tim; a great-granddaughter, Ellie McDonald; his former wife, Doris Ann Wheaton; a nephew, Douglas Elbert; his club brothers; best friends, "Psycho" Sam Prescott and Ruben "Rico" Gomez; close family friend, Paul Gauss; many other friends; and his extended family in Mexico.
In accordance with his wishes he was cremated and a celebration of his life will take place in California at a later date.
