It is with our deepest sorrows that we announce the passing of Laurea Marie (Paré) Bonnette on the 21st of November at the age of 93 years old at home surrounded by her loving husband, children and grand-children.
Laurea was born on February 22, 1932, in Hemmingford, Quebec to Octave and Eva (Bourdeau) Paré. At the age of 16 Laurea moved to Vermont and began working at nursing homes where she learned to speak English, by reading English comic books.
On August 2, 1952, Laurea married Harold LaBounty in Milton, VT before moving to Farmington, New Mexico. While in New Mexico they welcomed four children into their family before Harold's sudden death on November 14, 1962.
After Harold's passing, Laurea moved her young family back to
St. Albans, Vermont. Then on November 2, 1965, she married Maurice Bonnette whom she would spend the rest of her life with. Together Maurice & Laurea raised her four children and welcomed two more into the world. Throughout the years their family continued to grow adding 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild during their 60 years of marriage.
Early in their marriage Maurice and Laurea would spend their summers in Niagara Falls, Canada where Maurice was a Tour Guide. In 1977, the couple opened Bonnette Supply in
St. Albans, Vermont and grew their local family business into a regional distributor that covered all of New England. Maurice and Laurea also enjoyed travel, as their escapades took them on multiple cross-country trips as well as spending many winters at their second home in Sunny Isles, FL where they enjoyed many days in the sun, pool and sand.
Laurea stayed active in her community where she attended Holy Angels Parish and was an active member of The Catholic Daughters, Ladies of St. Anne and the Franklin County Business and Professional Women. In her early years she was also a Cub Scout den mother. Over the last 40 years Laurea also assisted Maurice on many Knights of Columbus events and fundraisers.
Laurea loved spending time with family whom she prayed for daily. She loved knitting hats, mittens and slippers for both her family and the needy in the community. She was always up for working on a puzzle or a game of cards anytime someone came for a visit. She also loved watching her soap operas and was an avid Montreal Canadiens Fan and always kept a roster next to her seat on the couch.
She was predeceased by her first Husband Harold John LaBounty, daughter Diane (LaBounty) Patch, grandson Christopher LaBounty, father Octave Paré and mother Eva Paré, siblings Paul, Joe, Marguerite, Bernard, and Gerald Paré and a special friend Ardis Wilcox.
