Laureano Gonzalez Cubero, a cherished father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Tacoma, Washington, at the age of 70. Born on April 6, 1954, in Isabela, Puerto Rico, Laureano's life was marked by love, creativity, and a deep commitment to his close family and friends.
Laureano proudly served in the United States Army for 12 years, from 1974 to 1986, showcasing his dedication and discipline. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from the State of Washington Department of Enterprise Services.
He is survived by his beloved son Lenny Gonzalez of Lacey, Washington, and daughter Lori Gonzalez of Olympia, Washington. Laureano also leaves behind siblings Agenol Gonzalez-Cubero, Angel Gonzalez-Cubero, and Aurelio Gonzalez-Cubero, as well as sisters Elena Gonzalez-Cubero, Indalencia Gonzalez-Cubero, and Minerva Gonzalez-Cubero. Laureano also leaves behind his beloved partner of over 27 years, Yolanda Gandia and her family. He was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren and extended grandchildren who brought immense joy into his life.
Laureano was known for his musical creativity, adventurous spirit, and cheerful disposition. He had a passion for softball and basketball during his younger years, and as a self-taught musician, he loved playing the guitar and sharing his love of music with family and friends. He cherished BBQ's, fishing trips and special moments spent with loved ones, which always reflected his warm-hearted nature.
Laureano is preceded in death by his mother, Angela Cubero, father, Luis Gonzalez, and his brother, Benjamin Gonzalez-Cubero.
A memorial ceremony will be held in his honor on April 23rd at 2 p.m. at Funeral Alternatives. Friends and family are welcomed to join in celebrating Laureano's life, sharing memories, and paying tribute to the legacy he leaves behind.
The family kindly requests that condolences be expressed through memories of Laureano's joyous spirit and love for life, honoring the vibrant life he lived and the lasting impact he made on those around him.
