Laureen Gronowski Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services LTD. on Sep. 6, 2024.
Laureen Gronowski age 75, passed away peacefully with her husband and son by her side Tuesday September 3rd. Laureen was the third child born to Lawrence and Betty (Tracy) Flynn in Chicago, IL.
Laureen graduated from Wheaton Central High School in 1967 and went on to become an RN specializing in neonatal intensive care for newborns. She worked at Loyola University Health System in Maywood, IL and Advocate Good Shepard Hospital, Barrington, IL.
On September 6, 1975 she married Gerald J. Gronowski. She passed 3 days before their 49th wedding anniversary. On October 18, 1986 her son Craig was born and he became the joy in her world.
If you knew her, odds are your furniture has been reupholstered or refinished, and your walls given new life time and time again. Every DIY project crafted with an unconditional eagerness to help beautify the spaces around the people she loved. Her skills and excitement helped to uplift her son to be a successful designer and he carries this generous creative spirit forward in honor of her.
If DIY projects weren't what the moment required, her caretaking to everyone, and especially her mother and mother-in-law would take center stage and provide unmatched comfort. Every task and every person guided with a level of grace and ease that was a force to be reckoned with.
Laureen is survived by her husband Gerry, son Craig, Brothers; Dan (Karin) Flynn, Larry (Susan) Flynn, Tom Flynn. Sisters; Eileen (Richard) Clark, Cathie Flynn, Susanne Mitchell. Brother-in-law Steve (Mary) Gronowski. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Larry & Betty Flynn, sisters; Mary Jean Schuler, Patricia Lempa. Steve & Violette Gronowski. Special pets Popcorn & Zoe, grand dog Jonsi.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
