Robert F. Reinert, known as Bob, was called home to be with Jesus on October 31, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family at his home in Winona. He was 79 years old.
Bob's life was transformed when he came to faith in Jesus Christ during his college years. This decision became the foundation for everything that followed. Throughout his life, Bob was passionate about studying God's Word and sharing it with others. He led numerous Bible studies over the decades and served faithfully in church leadership roles. In the places they lived, he enjoyed leading small groups with Andrea, building deep friendships and nurturing spiritual growth. These same friends supported them faithfully through his illness.
Born in Denver, Colorado, Bob was adopted as an infant by Marjorie (Logan) Reinert and Fred Reinert. He graduated from Wheaton Central High School in 1964 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a collegiate gymnast before completing his psychology degree at Winona State University in 1973.
Bob served his country with distinction in the U.S. Air Force for over two decades. After his first enlistment ended in 1971, he joined again as an officer and completed pilot training in 1973, then serving as an instructor pilot in T-37s and later flying his favorite, Huey helicopters. He retired as a Major in 1992.
Following military retirement, Bob fulfilled a personal dream by returning to Winona and building his own home. He then served Winona County, first as HR Director and then as County Administrator, before retiring in 2009. Bob enjoyed woodworking, fishing, movies, and computer work in his retirement years.
Bob faced cancer with grace and unwavering faith for nearly two years. We are deeply grateful to all his caregivers, especially Winona Hospice. He is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 59 years, Andrea (Stallknecht) Reinert, his four children: Carlyn (Tim) Wilson, Robin (Andrew) Olsen, Mandy (Wade) Swenson, and Christian (Hadley) Reinert, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Because of his faith in Jesus, we grieve with hope and look forward to seeing him again.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 4pm with visitation beginning at 3:30pm at Pleasant Valley Church (1363 Homer Rd. Winona, MN). A dinner will be served following the service. Robert will be laid to rest at Minnesota State veteran’s Cemetery – Preston.
