Laureen C. "Rene" Pilny

A Funeral Mass for Laureen "Rene" Pilny, 97 will be held on Tuesday, January 7th at 11:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Church, Willoughby.
Laureen "Rene" Pilny (nee Donelon), age 97, of Willoughby, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at Danbury of Mentor. She was born to Martin and Katheryn "Hatmaker" Donelon. Rene was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was the cherished mother of James (Peggy) Pilny and Barbara (Jeremy) Ritzu, loving grandmother to Jeffrey (Michelle) Pilny, Laura (Ryan), Coreen (Jason) Lundquist, and great-grandmother to Max, Cody, Jackson, Asher, and Calvin; sister-in-law to JoAnn Donelon, and a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beautiful friend and daughter-in-law Kathleen Pilny.
Rene was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Frank Pilny; her son, Robert "Cowboy" Pilny; her parents Martin and Katheryn Donelon; and her siblings Rita Pongonis, Martin "Bud" Donelon, Donald Donelon, and Harold "Hector" Donelon. She was also preceded by her brother-in-law, Raymond Pongonis, and sisters-in-law, Margie Donelon and Betty Donelon.
Throughout her life, Rene and her husband Frank enjoyed spending time on their boat, "Irish Eyes," and were active members of both the Chagrin Lagoons Yacht Club and the Mentor Lagoons Yacht Club. Her love for life and family was evident in everything she did.
The family will receive friends at the McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Avenue, Willoughby on Monday, January 6th from 2:00PM to 5:00 PM.
