Riemann Family Funeral Homes - West Jackson CountyLauren Elizabeth Holliman (Ulm) was born February 2, 1981 in Metairie, Louisiana and lived many places over her short life as the wife of a US Marine, from one coast to the other. She departed this world on October 7, 2025 in Ocean Springs, MS, peacefully in her sleep at the age of 44.
She is preceded in death by her father, Craig Calvin Ulm.
More importantly, she is survived by her two children, Ethan Wayne Holliman, aged 18, and Sophie Elizabeth Holliman, aged 14, her husband Wilford Wayne Holliman, her mother Jacquelyn Ulm and her brother Matthew Ulm. She has over a dozen first cousins, many devoted aunts, a loving uncle and even a few great aunts, all joining in the sorrow of her passing.
While it is impossible to sum up a life, those who knew Lauren well knew that the love of her family was the driving force for most of her adult life. She loved people, and never met a stranger. Her personality was magnetic, her energy infectious. She had so many people who loved just being around her that she never had to spend a moment alone, unless she chose to.
Her passion in life was helping others. She studied sociology, obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree while raising her infant son at the same time her husband was deployed as an active duty Marine, and then when her daughter arrived, and her husband became a civilian, the entire family moved from California to Mississippi to be closer to their extended families and Lauren immediately began looking for ways to help. She was an active parent in her children’s schools, and worked as an educational assistant and later in administration for St. Martin North Elementary, focusing on children with special needs. She adored that work, and truly touched the lives of so many children, and their families. Lauren was so very proud of having been awarded St. Martin Parent of the Year, an honor she earned through her care, devotion and advocacy for not just her own kids but those other children she helped educate and loved. She enjoyed church services when she could, but in her final years was not able to attend as many as she once had, yet her faith never wavered.
Lauren loved God, her kids, sports, murder mysteries, true crime and 90’s music, pretty much in that order. She loved cheering at her son’s football games and bragged so often about her daughter’s musical talents, always glad to watch a band concert or listen to her practice. She posted innumerable social media entries extolling her love of her kids, her family, and her favorite sports teams (she loved Taysom Hill and her New Orleans Saints). She also enjoyed photography and for a while was able to do a very steady business as a local family photographer.
It is impossible to sum up a life in words. Our feelings and memories seem inadequate in filling the person-shaped space left behind in Lauren’s passing. Lauren’s personality and love of life was huge, but the impacts she made on all of us were felt in the accumulation of small gestures and acts of kindness that were never measured because they did not need to be.
Please join the friends and family in a celebration of Lauren’s life and legacy Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:00 pm with visitation starting at 1 pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 13872 Lemoyne Blvd., Biloxi, MS.
