Laurence Bucher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Feb. 27, 2026.
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Laurence "Laurie" Bucher. She is deeply missed by her husband, Alex; her parents, Manfred and Daniele; her brother, Manuel; her mother-in-law, Karin; her sister-in-law, Angelika; and cousins, Sabine and Michael.

Laurie was defined by her great sense of humor, her highly organized nature, and an ever-positive outlook on life. Even while navigating a grave illness over the past year, she never stopped looking forward. She continued to map out the future with her signature optimism, making her passing feel sudden and too soon for everyone-especially for her. She slipped away peacefully, leaving a silence where her laughter and plans used to be.

Professionally accomplished, Laurie's career at Mars is what brought her to the United States. She fell in love with the country, proudly becoming a naturalized citizen in 2025. She was an adventurer at heart, spending many months exploring the U.S. in an RV with her husband, Alex.

A compassionate animal lover who grew up surrounded by pets, Laurie also held a PhD in veterinary medicine. In recent years, she opened her home to a succession of rescue dogs-Gustav, Anton, and Heidi-cherishing each one as a constant companion.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Clearwater, Florida, on Saturday, May 23rd.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to an animal charity of your choice, or to the Upper Suncoast Dog Training Club, a 501(c)(3) charity where she served on the board.
