Laurene Sue Walek

Laurene Sue "Elle" Walek, 71, passed away on September 23, 2025, in Edgewater, Florida. Born on August 10, 1954, in Schenectady, New York, she was the youngest of three siblings and brought a unique spark to those who knew her. Elle had a natural gift for creativity and an extraordinary talent for decorating. Whether transforming a room into a warm and welcoming space or adding thoughtful touches to everyday surroundings, her artistic eye left a lasting impression. Her flair for design reflected not only her skill but also her vibrant personality and attention to detail. She shared close bonds with her family throughout her life.

Elle is lovingly remembered by her sister Darla Soldato and her nieces Nicole Korth and Leigh Karlquist. She was preceded in death by her sister Brynn Markwart and her parents, Stanley Walek and June Somers Walek . Though small in stature as the "little one" among her siblings, Elle's presence was anything but diminutive. Her creativity and spirit enriched the lives of those around her.

Her bestie Marianne was always there to make her laugh and ran errands for her. I referred to her as my sister's best friend for life and she truly was. Laurene's sense of humor was way above anyone else's. Her facial expressions were priceless; she is leaving a huge void in many lives.
