Laurent "Larry" Denis

PEABODY – Mr. Laurent "Larry" Denis, 87 of Brooksby Village, Peabody, formerly of Salem, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024. He was the devoted husband of Shirley (Wright) Denis who predeceased him in September of 1995.
Born in Salem, Larry was the son of the late Arthur and Eva (Dube) Denis. He attended Salem High School, class of 1954, earning Varsity letters in football.
Larry enlisted in the United States Navy upon his graduation and was assigned to the U.S.S. Bennington and traveled the far East. He was discharged in 1957 with the rank of 2nd Class Machinist Mate.
Mr. Denis had been employed by the New England Electric System and worked at Salem Harbor in the Electrical Department for 38 years.
He married Shirley Wright in 1962 and together they had 3 children, Lisa, Susan and Michael. Larry was devoted to his catholic faith and served as a Eucharistic Minister, lector and Sunday school teacher. His community service consisted of volunteering as a member of the City of Salem Personnel Review Board, the Salem Housing Authority, City of Salem Ward 3 elections worker, volunteer reader at Salem Children Hospital and Salem Youth Hockey Coach for 7 years. A 17-year resident of Brooksby Village in Peabody, Larry was a beloved member of the community at large. He leaves a lasting impact as a contributor to Brooksby 9 TV.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Lisa Gustaveson and her husband, Bill of Seattle, WA and Susan Denis of Merrimac, his son, Michael Denis and his wife, Natalia of Miami, FL, his grandchildren, Darcy Gustaveson of Seattle, WA, Courtney Tinsman and her husband, Christopher of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Cameron Denis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Kelli Denis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and many nieces and nephews. He is the brother of the late Ernest and Edward Denis.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend Larry's funeral service which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations – Funerals – Celebrations, 84 Washington Sq., (at Salem Common) SALEM on Tuesday, May 28th at 10:30 A.M. with a visiting hour prior to his service from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery, Salem to follow.
