Laurin J. Meyer, age 87, of Madison, SD, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, at Avera Mc Kennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. No Services are planned.
Laurin Meyer was born in Wisconsin and later moved to the White Bear Lake/North St. Paul area of Minnesota, where he grew up and graduated high school. During his formative years, he enjoyed playing hockey.
A skilled craftsman, Laurin dedicated much of his life to carpentry, creating beautifully built cabinets that stand as a testament to his workmanship. He married Gail Christine, and together they had two children, Rita and Dale. After Gail's passing in 1963, Laurin remarried Joyce Vinson, adopting her daughter, Mary, and together they had Joseph, Annette, and Thomas Meyer. Following their divorce, he later married Bonnie Nelson until their marriage ended in 2023.
Beyond his work and family, Laurin was known for his quick wit and humor. He was deeply engaged in both national and local politics and was never shy about voicing his convictions. An outdoorsman at heart, he spent his later years raising horses on his farm in Madison, South Dakota, where he found peace in the open farmland. He was also an avid motorcyclist with a passion for anything flashy on three wheels.
Laurin's legacy lives on through his work, his passions, and those who knew him. As time moves forward, his family continues to write a new story-one of healing, growth, and hope for the future.

I´ve only known Laurin for a few years but enjoyed visiting with him and especially discussing politics. We shared the same views. I also enjoyed his humor.
