Laverne Faughn Obituary

Shirley Laverne Faughn, 73 of Rigby (formally Rexburg, ID) passed away on January 2, 2024 in her home, surrounded by her beloved husband Doyle, and loving family.

Laverne was born March 4, 1950 in Harviell, Missouri. The youngest of twelve children, the sixth daughter born to Johnny Clifford Lovett and Mabel Isabel Burns, who taught her the importance of God, family and hard work. Growing up, Laverne worked side by side with her mother and siblings on their family farm. All her life she has been endlessly compassionate, quick witted, humorous, enjoyed a good joke or prank and her love of family is unmatched.

Laverne married the love of her life Doyle Allen Faughn on March 12, 1966 in Oxly, Missouri. Together Laverne & Doyle built a beautiful life centered around God, hard work and their seven children, thirty grandchildren, and eighteen great grandchildren.

Laverne was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1968, and from that point began a most special relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Because of her deep love of family, she invested a vast amount of time doing genealogy work

uniting generations of her family in the eternities. Through the years she has served in almost every calling, including being called to a service mission with her sweetheart, Doyle, to the Vernon Livestock Welfare Ranch UT in 2015.

In 1989, the family moved to East Idaho where Doyle became Housing Maintenance Supervisor at Ricks College; a blessing in so many ways. One being Laverne's opportunity to obtain her RN degree all while raising her family, even taking her youngest to classes with her occasionally.

Laverne graduated in 1993 with her Associates. She received a job offer from Madison Memorial Hospital where she worked ICU, CCU, House Supervisor, Outpatient Services, and Day Surgery. Laverne retired in 2013 after 20 years of service.

Her skills and hobbies were many. Laverne taught herself many things and used those skills to help and bless not only her family but those around her. Sewing, quilting, needle art, canning, crochet, painting, sketching, piano, genealogy and more. She will be dearly, deeply missed by her family and anyone who came to know her.

Laverne is survived by her adoring husband Doyle; five daughters, Shirley (Don) Hawkes of Menan; Marcia (Blaine) Nite of Rexburg; Erin (Corey) Telford of Rexburg; Hillary (Bryce) Gee of Parker; and Jessica (Nate) Beard of Teton Valley, ID; and two sons, Doyle "Dewey" Faughn Jr of Boise; and Johnny (Christy) Faughn of Clyde, TX; four sisters, Virginia Dietz of Draper UT; Virgie Stellmon of Coeur D'alene; Neva Lee of Wildwood MO; and Gayle Lovette of Nampa; two brothers, Raymond Lovette of Poplar Bluff, MO; and Ronald Lovette of Blair WI.

Laverne is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Pheobe "Jeanie" Butler and three brothers, Dale, Clifford, and Hershel Lovette

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Garfield LDS Chapel. Viewing will be held Friday, January 5 from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral Home and prior to service at the church from 10:00 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery.
