LaVerne Edna (Buhrman) Henesy, 81, of Chambersburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 5, 2025, at The Village of Luther Ridge in Chambersburg, PA.
Born April 12, 1944, in Hagerstown, MD, she was the daughter of the late H. Elmer Buhrman Sr. and Edna Mary (Bumbaugh) Buhrman.
LaVerne was retired from Regency/Stationary House in Hagerstown, where she had worked as a customer service representative.
She was a devoted member of the Church of the Brethren.
In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, sewing, listening to gospel music, and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John Ellsworth Henesy, who passed away on February 7, 2019.
She is survived by her three children: Timothy Henesy (Marianne) of Clear Spring, MD; Daphne Kurdziolek (Steve) of Mt. Airy, MD; and Gregory Henesy (Dorinda) of Boonsboro, MD. She also leaves behind six grandchildren, Matthew Henesy (Rebecca), Jonathan Henesy (Mars), Lukas Kurdziolek, Ashley Kurdziolek, Mikayla Henesy, and Millie Henesy; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Sadie Henesy; three sisters, Ina Mary King, Lois M. Gift, and Delores A. Ramsey, all of Waynesboro; and one brother, Harry E. Buhrman, Jr. of Waynesboro.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Funeral Home, 1601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, with Pastor Dale Lehman officiating.
Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 15, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at donorservices.alz.org, in memory of LaVerne E. Henesy.
