It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lavina Ruth Dike, 80 who departed this life on October 8, 2025. Lavina better known as Ruth was born on January 27, 1945 in Boonville, IN the daughter of Burless and Ethel McCallister. She married Fred Dike on July 29, 1961, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2024.
A devoted member of the First Christian Church of Owensville. Ruth found solace and joy in her faith, embracing the community that surrounded her. Her love of nature blossomed in her passion for flowers, which she nurtured with care and attention, reflecting her vibrant spirit. Ruth also found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly camping under the stars, surrounded by the beauty that nature has to offer. Most dear to her heart were her grandchildren and her beloved dogs, who brought her endless happiness. She cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories filled with laughter and love.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Julian and her husband David of Owensville, son, Tim Dike and his wife Tonya of Owensville; her brother Gene McCallister and his wife Barbara of Spencer, IN; her grandchildren, Amber Carver, Kendra Wilkinson and her husband Brandon, Adam Dike, Tori Dike, and her great grandchildren, Liam Carver, Leighton Jones, Hadley Carver, Nox Carver, River Wilkinson and one on the way. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Burless and Ethel McCallister, her husband Fred Dike, granddaughter, Taylor Dike, sister, Darlene McBurnie, two brothers, Don and Dave McCallister and grandson-in-law, Christopher Carver.
Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Lavina's life with a funeral service scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at 10:00 am cst at the First Christian Church of Owensville, 4680 W SR 168, Owensville, IN 47665. Pastor Bart Newton will officiate, and Ruth will be laid to rest in Maumee Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 pm cst on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the church. Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home of Vincennes is privileged and honored to be entrusted with the care of Ruth and her family.
