Lavon Marie Bethea Varnum, age 88 of Clewiston, Florida went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 3, 2025, while staying with her son for care, Kevin C Green, in Athens, Tennessee.
She loved cooking, decorating her home, going to church, and spending time with family and friends. She loved and served her Lord Jesus with all of her heart. She was a member of Evangel Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn "Slim" Varnum; parents, E.B. Bethea and Phoebe "Bonnie" Bethea; and brother, Tracy Bethea.
She is survived by her son, Kevin C. Green of Athens, Tennessee; brother, Richard Bethea (Rose); many nieces, nephews and cousins from Clewiston, Florida and surrounding areas. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cindy Bethea of Jacksonville, Florida, who was married to Tracy Bethea, Mrs. Varnum's brother.
The family would like to offer special thanks to our friends and private caregivers, Susan and Jeannie, for their loving care and support and Amedisys Hospice for their attentive care and support as well.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025 at the Evangel Assembly of God Church, 350 S Berner Rd, Clewiston, Florida 33440, with Pastor Greg Ramey officiating. Interment at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clewiston, Florida.
