LaVon Pfadenhauer, 91, of Burlington died Friday, July 12, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born Aug. 30, 1933, in Afton, she was number 11 of 16 children born to Bert and Ava Mae (Mills) Dady.
She was proud of the fact that she obtained her G.E.D. at the age of 40.
LaVon worked for National Research, Midwest Biscuit (now Shearers) and Campbell Chain.
She was a long-time caregiver, babysitting for many children and took care of many elderly in their homes.
She attended First Church of the Nazarene.
She was an avid collector of dolls and was famous for her pies and fried chicken.
She was the best to everyone! Anyone she met, she touched their lives.
She is survived by her three daughters; Pamela Marie (William) Gulick, Ruth Ann Fortune and Tina Louise Kelley (Salvador Gallegos); seven grandchildren, Jamie Gulick, Ashley (Steve) Setterburg, Derek (Ashley) Greiner, Darren Greiner, Michael Kelley, Megan Kelley and Stormy (Matt) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Kayden Edwards, Aareanna Osborn, Sierra Davis and Colin Greiner; sister, Evelyn Beirce; brothers, Milo True Dady and Orville Dady; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Terry Wayne Fortune; her daughter Ruth's significant other Jeff Watters, whom she thought so much of, three brothers, ten sisters and her long-time sweetie Guy Mills.
The funeral service for Mrs. Pfadenhauer will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 19, at Lunning Chapel.
Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service on Friday.
A memorial has been established for Hope Haven, a Division of Imagine the Possibilities, in memory of LaVon.
