Roberta Pfadenhauer Obituary

Roberta June Pfadenhauer, 73, of West Burlington, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2025, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.

She was born June 30, 1952, in Burlington, and was the daughter of Harold and Dorothy (Chesnut) Wolfe.

She was a 1970 graduate of New London High School. She married Wesley Pfadenhauer on Dec. 21, 1973, at New London United Methodist Church.

She graduated from Iowa Wesleyan with a degree in Home Economics, but due to a lack of job opportunities, she switched to Special Education.

She was a teacher at Danville High School for 30 years and truly cared for each student. She used her Home Economics skills in judging at several 4-H county fairs.

Roberta had a deep love for Jesus and serving others. She first came to faith while attending East Iowa Bible Camp. For nearly 50 years, she was a faithful member of Harmony Bible Church. She enjoyed attending women's Bible study on Sunday mornings, as well as Community Bible Study every Tuesday. Her passion for children shone through her dedicated service in the church nursery, as well as serving more than two decades as the Awana Cubbie director.

Beyond her church life, Roberta was an active participant in her community. She faithfully supported her husband's hobby of raising pigeons and was a member of the Southeast Iowa Pigeon Club. She spent many years cooking and serving food at the Buy, Sell, and Trade concession stand.

She supported her children and grandchildren by attending numerous sporting and musical events, as well as traveling to Asia.

She loved baking, especially pies, Christmas cookies, and angel food cakes. She also loved flowers and enjoyed being a member of the Danville Gardening Club.

Survivors include her husband of almost 52 years, Wes; her four children, Kim (Ben) Schmidgall of Mediapolis, Christy Pfadenhauer of West Burlington, Julie (Tyler) Stafford of Bangkok, Thailand, and Matthew (Emily) Pfadenhauer of St. Michael, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren, Noah, Abigail, and Jude Schmidgall; Brittany, Alyssa, Ashley, Alex, and Aaron Pfadenhauer; Jacob and Kayla Stafford; and Nathan, Asher, and Evelyn Pfadenhauer; and two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Daelyn. Her siblings include Becky Hoyt of Middletown; Kathy McClelland of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Robert (Shawn) Wolfe of Smithsburg, Maryland. Also surviving are brother-in-law Lloyd (Marsha) Pfadenhauer of West Burlington; brother-in-law, Bob Ita of California; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Chester and Leone Pfadenhauer; and her sister-in-law, Maxine Ita.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 21, from 4 until 7 p.m. at Harmony Bible Church-Danville Campus.

The funeral service for Roberta will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Harmony Bible Church-Danville Campus. Lunch will follow the service at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at 2 p.m.

Roberta and I both taught special needs students in the different grade levels. Roberta would do anything to get students motivated to pass their classes. She was a very special teacher and was misses very much once she retired. She would do anything to get students to pass their classes.
