Lavon Taylor, age 97, went to her eternal home with Jesus, on Sunday, May 25th, 2025. She was born on March 19, 1928, in Atchison, Kansas to Laymon and Jamella Cowgur. She was married to the love of her life, Lloyd Allen Taylor, on November 29th 1947, and together they had six children.
She is survived by her children: Tootie Brown, Allen Taylor and wife Ann, Ginny Long and husband Jr., Neil Taylor and wife Sheila, D'Anna Beggs and husband Roger; Two sisters: Marian Hendricks and Wanda Bates; Grandchildren: Jerry Brown and wife Patti, Brenna Brown, Kendra Embry and husband John, Reagan Lowe and husband Scott, Rebecca Petty and husband Bill, Kristy Fricker and husband Brant, Shanna Sanchez and husband Danny, Shawn Long, Steven Taylor and wife Leah, Tandi Brumley, Hannah Hamm and husband Newton, Ashlea Beck and husband Aaron, Taylor Beggs and wife Ashleigh; Numerous great and great-great grandchildren, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Shane Long; granddaughter, Andi Brewer; and son-in-law Jerry Brown.
She was the glue that held her family together, and her greatest offering to family and friends was love and prayer. She never failed to say "I love you" anytime you spoke with her. She was faithful to God, praying, reading her Bible, or asking a blessing on every morsel of food. Her faith never waivered in storms, raising her hands and rebuking them. She picked berries and made jelly and salsa for her family and many others. She always prayed over anything she was making for others; her secret ingredient was love! The best mamma, Gram, Nummy, and friend, you could ask for. She had kind blue eyes, a beautiful smile and an ornery giggle when she was pulling a prank on someone. She loved to have fun with her family. She is preceded in death her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, she never got to see, hold, or go to her funeral, but mourned for 77 years, Lorallen, who was a twin to Tootie. We know she is rejoicing in Heaven, eternally with her Jesus, and those she loves.
Cremation services are entrusted to Beasley-Wood Funeral Home.
