Lavone Carolyn Studlien

LaVone Carolyn Studlien, 92, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2025. LaVone was the oldest of four daughters born to Mina and Lewis Studlien. Born in Hoffman, MN, she grew up in Rugby, ND, Detroit Lakes, and Thief River Falls. LaVone graduated from high school in Thief River Falls and then moved to Minneapolis, where she graduated from Augsburg College. Her subsequent career as a church parish worker, missionary, and social services worker took her to California, Ethiopia, Papua New Guinea, and Minneapolis where she worked for churches, Radio Voice of the Gospel, Lutheran Headquarters, and Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota. LaVone was preceded in death by her parents and her three sisters, Joan Nelson, Marlene Studlien, and Karen Becker, her niece Naomi Becker Shurgalski, and her great-nephew Alex Becker. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and also great and great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Oak Grove Lutheran Church, 7045 Lyndale Ave. S., Richfield MN 55423, on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11AM with visitation one hour prior.
