Ronald Wolford, 81, of Ramsey MN, passed away peacefully on Oct 12 at his home surrounded by his family. He had been in hospice care for 3 ½ months. Ron was born in Logansport, IN on June 25, 1944. He served in the U.S. Army from 1964-67.
Ron taught at Benton Contral in IN for 26 years. Ron and family moved to MN in 1997 for an opportunity to be principal at a local charter school.
After retiring from education, Ron volunteered at Hope for Youth and in the heart department at Mercy Hospital, where he was known at "The Tootsie Roll Guy". He would always have tootsie rolls to pass out to visitors and staff. Smiling was always very important to Ron. He always had a smile and liked to make other people smile.
Ron was a member of Anoka American Legion where he served as commander for 2 ½ years. He was also a member of Coon Rapids VFW and Disabled Veterans. He was a member of 40 & 8 in Lafayette, IN. Ron was a member of Church of Christ in Oxford, IN.
Ron was preceded in death by parents Wayne and Edith Wolford and brother Gary Wolford.
Surviving are loving wife of 61 years Diane Wolford; sons Mark Wolford and Scott Wolford; and granddaughters Paige, Brooke, and Jillian.
Graveside service with family taking place at On Monday Oct 20 at 2:00 PM St. Andrew Cemetery in Elk River, MN with Karl Jones, chaplain from Superior Hospice officiating. In Lieu of flowers those desiring may donate to:
