LaVonne Edythe Bilyeu, 85 of Sterling, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Greeley at Grace Pointe Senior Care Community. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Halouska Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 11:00 am at the Sterling Nazarene Church with Pastor Chris Rose officiating. LaVonne will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery.
LaVonne was born November 22, 1940, in Sterling, CO to Lorin and Leola (Stratton) Wagner. She attended schools in Sterling, and she graduated from Sterling High School in 1958.
On June 21, 1959, she married Donald (Shorty) Bilyeu in Sterling, Co. They were married for almost 50 years when he passed away March 29, 2009.
LaVonne worked at Equitable Savings and Loan up until they started a family. She then spent many happy years as a homemaker and mother. She went back to work in 1984 at Plains Radiology. She also did some work for the Northeast Colorado Medical Society as well.
Her hobbies were bowling, working in the yard and tending to her beautiful flowers. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She also enjoyed trips to Blackhawk with Shorty.
She attended the Sterling Nazarene Church for several years. She enjoyed helping out with making calls and attending the Ladies luncheons, as well as decorating for them. She helped in making calls for the prayer chain, and she also helped with preparing and serving food for the funerals in their church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; father-and-mother-in-law Glen and Clara (Urich) Bilyeu; sister Lorna Nelson; brother-in-law Stanley Nelson; brother LaVern Wagner; sister-in-law Lois Donoho; brother-in-law Dennis Donoho; sister-in-law Bonnie Burnworth; and brother-in-law Bill Burnworth.
Survivors are daughter, Debbie March (Tim) of Greeley, CO; son, Scott Bilyeu and wife Crystal of Altus, OK; grandchildren Caitlyn (Jacob) Parsons of Altus, OK; Dylan (Brooke) Mandrell of Amarillo, TX; and Holdyn (Taylor) Hughes of El Reno, OK; and 5 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews Dan (Jo) Nelson of Carrollton, GA; Lanette (Steve) Farnik of New Raymer, CO; Dave (Stacey) Nelson of Sterling, CO; Judy Meidinger of Hammond, LA; Dave (Glenda) Donoho of Pierce, CO; Jan (Arlyn) Pankratz of Lustre, MT; and John (Deidre) Donoho of Bellevue, NE and many great nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice or to the Sterling Church of the Nazarene.
