LaVonne Joan Lundgren

LaVonne J. Lundgren, 93 of Sioux City, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at a local hospital. A Memorial Service will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Reverend Scott Egbers officiating. Interment will be in the Brule Creek Cemetery of rural Elk Point, South Dakota at a later date. Visitation, with the family present, will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Sunday.

LaVonne was born on September 16, 1932, in Elk Point, South Dakota to Irvy and Blanda (Sonen) Renum. She received her education and graduated from Elk Point Public Schools. She married Roland Lundgren on September 28, 1950, in Elk Point, South Dakota. In her working career, LaVonne worked at Palmer Candy Company before joining the crew at Interbake Foods, from where she retired after 26 years of service.

LaVonne was a proud member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux City, and enjoyed her affiliation with the women’s groups associated with the church.

LaVonne is survived by her children Michael (Alice) Lundgren of Sioux City, Barbara (Dan) Lee of rural Salix, Iowa, Gayle Parsons of Brandon, South Dakota, Julie (Robert) Halbedel of Cheney, Kansas, Karen (Lyle) Cain of rural Homer, Nebraska, and Kevin Lundgren of rural Sioux City, Iowa; numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roland in 2009, son Jeffery Lundgren.
