OBITUARY
Ms. Lawanda Yvette Savage was born on July 29, 1961 in Sheffield, AL to the late Thomas and Tiny Savage. She entered into eternal life on August 6, 2024 at her home in Decatur, AL.
She accepted Christ as her Savior as a young adult and joined St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur.
She graduated from Irvington High School in New Jersey. It was during this time that she met Arnold Harris, Sr., the father of her only son, Arnold. He would remain a special part of her life and friend to her family.
She continued her education studying cosmetology and later as a Medical Tech. Her career spanned 30 plus years working most of those years with Comfort Care Hospice. She spent the last five years working in mid-western states and as far west as New Mexico. Wanda's dream was to own an RV and travel coast to coast. She did not travel by RV, but she traveled just the same visiting historic sites and meeting many new friends along the way.
She was a beloved sister, mother, and granny. Her passions included crocheting blankets that were gifted to loved ones, shopping, listening to gospel music and cooking. She had a generous nature and helped many family members and friends in need. She was passionate about her career and was devoted to and cared about her patients and that love was returned in kind. Always a pillar of strength, she came to inspire many through her unfalteringly positive and courageous fight through her illness.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Malik Harris; beloved sister, Loretta Savage-Jarmon, and brother-in-law, Allen Smith, Sr.
Wanda leaves to cherish her memory: beloved son, Arnold Harris, Jr.; daughter, Daisy Savage; granddaughters, Akari Harris and Rachael Savage; grandson, Ayden Harris; five sisters, Jeffie Abernathy, Raleigh, NC; Ruby Smith, McLeansville, NC; Eloise Savage-Thompson (Kenneth), Hoover, AL; Kimble Williams (William), Greensboro, NC; Sherry Savage, Decatur, AL; one brother, Rydrick Lindsey, Cleveland OH; brother-in-law, Gregory Jarmon, Tyrone, GA; four uncles; Freddy Williams (Betty); Marion Williams (Shelia); Curtis Williams (Carleen); Larry Williams (Molly); two aunts, Edwina Mason and Mary Foster (Barton, AL); five nieces, Flynn, Aisha, Khaleelah, Jasmin, and Sydney; ten nephews, Byron, Al-Majied, Al-Mustafa, Allen, Jr., Brandon, Monte, Jr., Fonnie, Jr., Jarad (Patricia), Allen, and devoted and loving nephew Jeremy; honorary sister, Sarah Lyle; best friend JoAnn Norflet; goddaughter Devin Norflet; special cousins, Rosemary Langford, Robert Scruggs, Nesby Williams and Yvonne Whiteside; and dear friends, Hildreth Lyle, Delores Franklin, Shennika Irons, Adrian Evans and Trellis White.
