Lawrence F. "Larry" Baiz Sr., 78, of Spring Valley, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at OSF St. Clare Medical Center in Princeton.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Peru City Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Margherio, OSB of St. Bede Abbey officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Mr. Baiz was born August 26, 1944 in Chicago to Frank F. and Socorro Celia "Sally" (Cisneros) Baiz. He married Jean M. Konieczki on December 10, 1996 at the Putnam County Court House in Hennepin. He attended Illinois Valley Community College to study automotive mechanics. Larry owned and operated Larry's Auto Service in LaSalle and later out of his home. Larry was a fabulous musician and entertainer. He played the drums and trumpet in several local bands. He had such a big smile and a very contagious laugh.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; three children, Lawrence "Larry" (Pamela) Baiz Jr. of Baldwinsville, NY, Sally Baiz of Spring Valley, and Suzy Baiz of Liverpool, NY; one step-daughter, Tina (Doug) Barr of Peru; four grandchildren, Joe Baiz, Michael Venegas, Lawrence Baiz III, and Ashlee Venegas; three step-grandchildren, Brandon and Tyler Barr and Jennifer (Kalem) Miranda; one step great-grandson, Kit Miranda; one niece, Nicole Gutierrez; and three nephews, Chris, Damien, and Devin Swartz.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Luis Gutierrez.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

So sorry to hear of your passing, Larry. You and I were best friends in first and second grade in the 50s, and then again when we formed the duo Baiz and Castelli in the 70s. RIP, old friend.
