Lawrence D. "Larry" Bethman, 77, of Newtown, PA died peacefully on July 10, 2024 at Chandler Hall. Larry was a lifelong resident of Newtown.
Larry is a graduate of Council Rock High School, Class of 1965. After joining the Army & a tour in Viet Nam, he returned home and married his high school sweetheart on December 6th, 1969. Larry & Chris began raising their family on Jefferson Street. Where they've lived since 1970. He retired from Agway after 40 years of service as a truck driver. They enjoyed traveling with family & friends. Especially going to Lancaster & taking church bus trips. He was a quiet simple man who enjoyed working in his yard & feeding the birds. Larry is a member of the Newtown American Legion and he attended the Newtown United Methodist Church. Larry is the son of the late Linford and Kathleen Knight Bethman and brother of the late Linford and Ronald Bethman. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Christine Lunoe Bethman. Larry is the father of Nicole and her husband Robert Pringle, Trisha and her husband Michael Errico, Michelle and her husband Paul
Cangemi and the grandfather of Deanna, Jessica, Ryan, Jordan, Francesca, Timothy, Paul and Shane and 2 great grandchildren, Parker and Ainsley. He is the brother of Don (Linda), Jerry (Judy), Gary (Dixie) Diane Knott, Sandy Scarborough (Skip), Darlene (Ovel) Mebs and Woody (Linda) Bethman. Also survived by his brother-in-law & sister-in-law Rich and Mary Jo Lunoe & sister-in-law Laurie Waller. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to Larry's viewing on Friday, July 19, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:15 PM with service immediately following at Swartz Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Larry's name may be made to the Newtown United Methodist Church 34 Liberty St. Newtown, PA or The Shamrock Girls 111 Jefferson St. Newtown, PA.
