Lawrence Lindsay Statter Carr, Jr. passed peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Lindsay Statter and Hazel (Wright) Carr, and brother Dr. William Edward Statter Carr. Born on January 27, 1939 in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, he grew up with the ocean as his backyard. He was a proud graduate of New Smyrna Beach High School, Class of 1957. Lindsay was a true Barracuda who excelled in multiple sports. He continued his education at The Citadel and Daytona Beach Junior College before answering the call to serve his country in 1959. His distinguished military career spanned 21 years, during which he served with honor in the 82nd Airborne Division and completed tours in Thailand, Okinawa, Dominican Republic, and twice in Vietnam as a member of the elite U.S. Army Special Forces-Green Berets. He retired in 1980 with the rank of Major, along the way having earned numerous decorations including the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Meritorious Service Medal, and US Army Gold Recruiter Badge.

Upon retirement, Lindsay returned to New Smyrna Beach to raise his family and invest in the community he loved. His leadership and dedication were felt across many organizations, including the NSB Cuda Athletic Boosters, Cuda Alumni Providing Scholarships (CAPS), Southeast Historical Society, American Cancer Society, Retired Officers Society, and the Special Forces Association. He managed the NSB Greyhound bus station for several decades and was a deeply committed member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Lindsay is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Christina Anne (Casto) Carr; sons Lawrence "Lynnie" Lindsay Statter Carr III (Melissa), Ronald Joseph Statter Carr (Kerry), and Daniel Mark Statter Carr (Kimberly); and grandchildren Tyler Joseph Statter Carr (Emily), Casey James Statter Carr, Maddison Jude Statter Carr, and Delaney Faith Statter Carr. Lindsay will be remembered for his unwavering patriotism, community spirit, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
