Marjorie Elouise Crawford September 19, 1941 – August 14, 2025
Marjorie Elouise (Bishop) Crawford, 83, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 14, 2025, after a long illness. Born on September 19, 1941, in Lexington, Kentucky, to the late George and Fleeda Bishop, Marjorie grew up with a love for music, nature, and family. At the age of 14, she and her family relocated to New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she attended New Smyrna Beach High School. While there, she met Robert Crawford, and the two later married in Friedburg, Germany, on July 27, 1962. Though their paths eventually separated, together they raised two sons, Robert and John, who were her pride and joy.
Marjorie's passion for singing brought joy to many. In the early 1990s, she was a proud member of the Amelia Island Chorale, where she performed at numerous events across Fernandina Beach. Her talent also led to several memorable solo performances that touched the hearts of her community.
At home, Marjorie found peace and delight on her back porch, watching birds with her beloved cats, Mitty and Spunky. She often laughed-or sometimes sighed-at the squirrels who raided her bird feeders. She also loved going to the movies before her illness, never missing a chance to see the latest release. Her all-time favorite film was Dirty Dancing, which she joyfully watched more than a hundred times.
Marjorie was a born-again Christian whose faith gave her strength and peace. She is now reunited in Heaven with her parents, George and Fleeda Bishop; her sister, Elaine Holmes; and her brother, Jim Bishop.
She is survived by her sons Robert (Melinda) Crawford of Fernandina Beach and John (Tina) Crawford of Hilliard, FL; her sister, Marilyn Votta of New Smyrna Beach; grandchildren Holli (Brian) Peeples, Sean (Val) Crawford, Taylor (Elizabeth) Crawford, and Joshua Griffin; and five great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy in her later years.
A private family gathering will be held Tuesday, August 19, at Sea Pines Memorial Gardens in Edgewater, Florida, where Marjorie will be laid to rest.
Her legacy of love, song, and faith will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
