Lawrence "Larry" J. Casey, age 83, of Savanna, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at Big Meadows Nursing Home in Savanna.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Law Jones Funeral Home in Savanna.
Larry was born March 20, 1942, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Donald and Bonita (Canton) Casey. He grew up in Savanna and graduated with the Class of 1960. On November 28, 1963, he married Barbara Ferris in Savanna. Together, they raised two sons, Franklin "Frank" and Thomas "Thom", and shared 61 loving years of marriage.
Larry worked for many years at the Savanna Army Depot. He also managed the J&L gas station in Savanna and later worked in maintenance at Swiss Colony until he retired.
Larry loved spending time outdoors! He enjoyed going to the local horse shows to watch Frank compete, Canadian fishing trips with his son, Thom and family, and boating and fishing with his friends and family. He also looked forward to his family trips to Washington State to visit Frank and his family, and he never missed a chance to support his grandsons, Jeff and Jake at their events, especially wrestling matches.
Larry was a proud Iowa Hawkeye fan and also cheered for the Green Bay Packers when the Hawkeyes weren't playing. He enjoyed his morning routines to Sabula and Savanna visiting his local friends and always enjoyed a good meal at Manny's Pizza with a Blue Moon on tap.
Larry will be dearly missed by his wife, Barbara Casey of Savanna; two sons, Frank (Gwen) Casey of Belfair, Washington and Thom (Denise) Casey of Thomson, Illinois; six grandchildren, Christina (Cory) Casey, Taylor Casey, Paige Casey, Paytin Casey, Jeff (Courtney) Casey and Jacob (Shirley) Casey; four great-grandchildren, Shelby, Gracelynn, Aria and Theodore; and his brother, Victor Casey of Grundy Center, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bonita; three brothers, Ray, Don and Roger, and his beloved dog, Molly.
