Freda Byron Casey 85, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Milford Maine.

Freda was born April 11, 1940, in Barnesville, New Brunswick, Canada, the third child of parents, Frederick and Roberta (Carson) Floyd. At the age of seven her family moved to the United States, settling in Littleton Maine, where she was educated in local schools and graduated from Ricker Classical Institute.

In 1959 she married Keith Byron of Linneus Maine, where together they made their home and welcomed their only child Zane, in 1960. They were potato farmers until Keith died suddenly in 1982. In 1987 Freda married Roger Casey of Houlton and they were married nearly 30 years until his passing in 2017.

Her working career included employment at Ames Department Store and later she was a long-time employee as a clerk in the Linneus Town Office.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husbands' Keith and Roger, in-laws Lester and Hazel Byron, sisters, Maxine Cone and Donna Victory and brother Milton Floyd, sisters-in-law Norma McGary and husband Kelse and sister-in-law, Viola Byron, stepdaughter, Teresa, Fitzpatrick, and stepson Mark Casey, as well as an uncle, Mahlon Byron, and a nephew, Keven Byron

Freda is survived by her son, Zane and daughter-in-law Roxanne Byron of Milford, grandchildren, Geoffrey (Sarah) Heacock of Concord, North Carolina granddaughter, Jessica (Kent) Smallwood of Hampden, Maine. She is survived by six great-grandchildren, Emerson, Benning, and Maverick, Heacock and Nolan Silas and Jude Smallwood. She is also survived by sisters, Barbara (Dale) Henderson of Littleton, Jeannie (Mike) Prosser of Hodgdon and brother, Wayne (Cindy) Floyd of Linneus . Freda also leaves behind brother-in-law, Larry Byron, stepdaughter-in-law, Margaret Casey and step son-in-law, Greg Fitzpatrick, an aunt, Greta Carson and many nieces and nephews. She was Nana to Colby Parker, Abigail, Tyler, and Riley Scott

Relatives and friends may visit with the family at 12:00 PM Monday, September 1, 2025, at the Houlton Wesleyan Church, 18 Kelleran Street, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Wayne Robertson officiating. A time of refreshments and fellowship will be held at the church fellowship hall, immediately following the service. Interment will take place at the Linneus Cemetery later that afternoon.
