Bridgewater & Farmington - Eva Marjorie Ellen Prest, 87, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at her residence in Farmington. She was born May 11, 1938, in Bath, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Clyde and Mary Marjorie (McAdams) Bulmer.
Eva graduated from a Teachers College in Canada and taught in a one room school house. She married Robert Prest on July 7, 1959 and together they would raise their eight children.
Eva worked seasonally during the potato harvest. She would pick potatoes for Robert Whited and Burton Durost; and was well known for picking up to a hundred barrels a day even with kids in tow. She also worked at Wettereau Food Distribution Co. and later at Burrelle's until her retirement. Loving and nurturing her children was her natural gift, as well as her primary and most rewarding role.
In her retirement years, she loved traveling and visiting her family; this was referred to as the "Mother's Day Tour". After she raised her family she found solace in spending time with her Bridgewater neighbors, "The Bridgewater Corner Girls".
She was a member of the Bridgewater Red Hat Society, and the Bridgewater Theater Group. Eva's faith was very important in her life and she was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Mars Hill, where she served on the Parish Council and was an Eucharist and Parish lector.
Eva had a love of life and family. She loved flowers and always had a vase of fresh flowers on the table. Eva was also a passionate reader and could often be found with a book in hand. She had compassion for others and always placed others needs above her own. She also had a belly laugh that was contagious and brought joy to all around her.
