Lawrence Christopher Chapman, Jr., 80, of Easley, South Carolina, loving husband of Terry Humphreys Chapman, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Born in Easley, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Syvilla McBee and Lawrence Christopher Chapman, Sr. He leaves behind a legacy of unwavering dedication, steadfast love for his family, and a spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Lawrence’s journey began with a commitment to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Army, where he proudly served for 23 years. His courageous service during the Vietnam War was marked by his diligence as a Drill Sergeant at Ft. Jackson, a role that showcased his leadership and commitment to training the next generation of soldiers. He was also deeply involved in Military Planning, demonstrating not only his strategic mind but also his devotion to the safety and security of his fellow Americans. Lawrence's contributions did not go unnoticed as he received the Peacetime Service Award in recognition of his devotion and valor.
Upon retiring from his military career, Lawrence continued to embody the principles of hard work and dedication, spending 21 years with General Electric. His career was a testament to his relentless work ethic and remarkable ability to inspire those around him. Throughout his professional life, Lawrence took time to mentor many, sharing wisdom and guidance, always ready to lend a hand.
Academically, Lawrence found success, graduating from McKendree College with a bachelor’s degree in business management. His pursuit of education was yet another reflection of his commitment to bettering himself and those he influenced.
Lawrence's passions extended beyond his impressive career. A devoted family man, he cherished his wife and children, embracing every moment with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in his actions, as he took care of his parents until their passing, a true reflection of his character and values. He carried God in his heart, as a member of Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church, where his faith was an integral part of his life.
Known for his enthusiasm for life, Lawrence was a huge fan of the Miami Dolphins and found immense joy in football. His love for cars, particularly Corvettes and Dodge Chargers, revealed his adventurous spirit and appreciation for craftsmanship.
In addition to his loving wife of 54 years, he is survived by a son, Christopher Chapman (Donna); two daughters, Briele Chapman Smith (Joshua) and Deirdre Chapman; and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
