Lawrence William Corbin

Lawrence William Corbin, 78, of Spicers Mill Road, Orange, Virginia, died Thursday, November 12, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born October 1, 1931, in Orange County, Virginia, the son of the late John A. Corbin and Josephine Ballard Corbin.

He was a member of Salem Baptist Church in Salem, Virginia, a former member of the Orange Moose Lodge, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a retired auto mechanic at Reynolds Pontiac, Cadillac, GMC, Buick, Subaru in Orange.

He is survived by his wife, Betty H. Corbin of Orange; one daughter, Bridget C. Smith and her husband, Ron, of Orange; two grandchildren, Ashley Smith and Brandi Smith, both of Orange; two sisters, Dorothy Cash of Bowling Green and Margaret Southard of Orange; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one sister, Annie Edwards and five brothers, Mack, Johnny, Harold Lee, Robert, and Roy Corbin.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 15, 2009, at the Preddy Funeral Home in Orange with interment to follow at Graham Cemetery. Pastors John Edwards and Bobby Green will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 until 6 p.m. Saturday, November 14, 2009.
