Lawrence Crowder's roots are from an island in South Carolina. He was a talented and versatile man. He excelled as a tailor, an entrepreneur, a business owner, cab owner in Chicago, Illinois. He received his training and certification from the Allied School of Technology in Chicago, Illinois, as an HVAC Maintenance Technician. He had a long, successful career in the HVAC field. He played piano and guitar, which he taught himself, and he loved to sing Gospel Music. Another was playing golf, which he was a member of Raymond, Airport, and Bolton Gold courses- Parks and Recreation. Lawrence was also an ordained deacon at Bible way Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ and served for many years. He was primarily educated in the Grenada City School System. Lawrence was in the armed forces in World War 2. He served in Paris, Italy, Africa, Germany, and South Korea. He was part of the D Day Invasion at Normandy Beach. He received a Congressional Recognition Letter for recognition of his service to our nation. He received a set of 3 medals for service in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaigns

He is preceded in death by Thomas Bailey Crowder (Father), Mildred Crowder (Mother), Sammie Lee Diggs (Sister), L.C. Crowder (Brother), Thomas Crowder (Brother), Lawrence Crowder (Son), Jerome Crowder (Son)

He is survived by Ella, Dorothy, Gloria, Lester (Alice), Frederick (Mushirah), Teresa, Allen (Sharon), and Adopted Daughter Judy. Lawrence has a total of 46 Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and grandchildren into the fifth and sixth generations. Lawrence was a servant in church, a devoted husband to Donella Crowder, and an excellent father who loved his family! Everyone had a unique relationship and a story to remember him by. There is a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many beloved friends. You were cherished, and you know who you are.
