Lawrence Crowson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Laughlin Service Funeral Home & Crematory - Huntsville on Aug. 29, 2024.
Lawrence B. Crowson, III "Larry" passed away on July 11, 2024, surrounded by family.
Larry was born in Memphis, TN on February 6, 1958, to Lawrence B. Crowson, Jr. and Josephine Elise Threadgill Crowson, and was raised in Huntsville, AL.
Growing up as the oldest of five siblings in a raucous household Larry was the ringleader but also the protector, guardian, and boss, roles not always appreciated by the younger four!
After graduating from Huntsville High School in 1976 Larry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Birmingham-Southern College where he was an active member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. He later received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from The University of Alabama, Huntsville. Larry subsequently earned a Master of Business Administration from The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa.
Larry spent the vast majority of his career teaching business classes at various universities throughout Alabama and Florida. After his career in academia Larry became a healthcare marketing consultant, advising medical practices and pharmaceutical companies.
Family and close friends will fondly remember Larry's love of music, especially the Beatles, and his joy (sometimes pain!) faithfully watching Tennessee football, basketball and baseball games.
He is survived by his children, Lawren C. Hicka (David), Sarah C. Gattozzi (Chris), Emily C. Consin (Alex); grandchildren, Owen, Charlotte, and Anderson Gattozzi; and siblings, Carol E. Crowson, William S. Crowson (Madeline), Elizabeth C. Banick (Paul), and Alison C. Talbert (Pat). He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private memorial service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the University of Tennessee Foundation, noting the Hardiman Hickey Crowson Foundation Scholarship and mailed to UTHSC Development, 62 S. Dunlap, Suite 500, Memphis, TN 38163, or to a charity of your choice.
