Lawrence Joseph Delmont of Saginaw
Passed away on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, at the age of 87. He was born on December 14th, 1934, in Perkins, Michigan, to the late Charles & Emma (LaChance) Delmont, and was a graduate of Marquette High School. Lawrence married Dolores Ann Abbott on October 27th, 1956. She preceded him in death on July 12th, 2014. Lawrence spent his working years as a mason, holding a builder’s license in the State of Michigan. He was a self-employed contractor his whole life who was well known for his residential fireplace masonry throughout the greater Saginaw area. After retiring, he worked as a custodian for Swan Valley Schools. Lawrence was also a devoted member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and devoted Catholic. In his free time, Lawrence was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting camp with his brothers and family RV camping throughout Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. He also canned and preserved the veggies that grew in his garden. Most important to him was his family; he cherished the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren above all else. Lawrence is remembered as being an active man, even well into retirement. Every morning he filled a thermos with coffee and proudly exclaimed that he was going to work, even if work just meant putzing around the garage or tinkering in the barn. He was a one-of-a-kind example of how a person should be, and a kind man who never got angry but who would do anything for you.
Lawrence is survived by one son and two daughters; Ronald (Barbara Plude) Delmont, Diane (Donnie) Barnes, and Barbara (Daniel) Maldonado; grandchildren Heather (Justin), Jessica, Savannah (Jerry) Stuits, Cody, Lucas (Jazman) Jones, Nicolas (Aleah), and Jillann (Jake) Kissane; great grandchildren Avarey, Brooklin, Ryker, Oden, Amaralyn, Mia, and Zayden; Brother Wilfred (Ruth) Delmont, Jane (Arthur) Sodermark, Ray (Mary) Delmont, and Donald (Linda) Delmont; and many other loving family members and many friends.
Lawrence was predeceased by wife Dolores Delmont; son Robert Delmont; and brother Jim Delmont.
Fr. Peter Gaspeny will officiate the funeral liturgy at 11:00am on Wednesday, December 7th, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road, with visitation from 9:00am until the time of service. Cremation will follow the funeral. Memorial offerings are suggested to the discretion of the Delmont family. Dear Diane, Ron and Barb,
I was saddened to read about your father´s passing. My parents, Ed and Fran Meyer, lived across the street from your home on Pasadena when you were very young. I have many memories of your family. Both your parents were wonderful neighbors. I´ll always remember your father taking Ronny and Bobby in the pickup with him. It was so cute to see him driving down the road with both boys bouncing around in the front seat. They never sat still ! Praying that your numerous , happy memories fill your hearts at this sad time.
