Lawrence Dumes entered into eternal rest at his residence surrounded by family on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 81. He was a native of Palmetto, LA, a former resident of California, and presently a resident of Harvey, LA. Lawrence was educated in the St. Landry Parish School System. He was employed by several companies and retired from Louisiana Nuts and Bolts. Lawrence was a dedicated and faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church for several years before moving his membership to St. Cletus Catholic Church. He was outspoken, with an active sense of humor, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and grilling. Loving husband of 37 years to Johnnie “Joan” Vaughn Dumes. Devoted father of Dameon Dumes, Sanetta Dumes (Kelton) Green, and the late Jarrod Vaughn Dumes. Son of the late Paul and Yola Dumes. Brother of John Orel (Rose) Dumes, Patsy (Barnett) Woods, Janis Dumes, Judy Brown, Ray (Sandra) Dumes, Gregory (Monica) Dumes, and the late Marvin Dumes, Sidney Dumes, Paul Dumes, Patrick Dumes, Dennis Dumes, Don Dumes, and Shirley Dumes Rachal. Lawrence is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. Cletus and St. Anthony Catholic Churches are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cletus Catholic Church, 3600 Claire Ave., Gretna, LA on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the above-named church.
