Lawrence H. Haler, age 92, of St. James, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025 at Living Meadows in Madelia.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am on Friday, October 3, 2025 at St. James Catholic Church in St. James, with Father Timothy Hall celebrating the mass. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in St. James.

Visitation will be from 9:30-10:45 am on Friday at St. James Catholic Church.

Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes of New Ulm are assisting his family.

Lawrence is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter, Margaret (Terry) Lewis of Chanhassen; sons, Richard Haler of Norwood Young America, Curtis (Deanna) Haler of Hastings, and Roger (Cindy) Berndt of St. James; nine grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John (Lora Mae) and Walter Haler; and sisters, Caroline (George) Anaker and Adeline (Orville) Kubly.

Lawrence Hubert Haler was born on July 25, 1933 in St. James, MN to John & Frances (Ries) Haler. He was united in marriage to Ruth Peterson on August 31, 1957, at St. James Catholic Church and together they carried on the family tradition of dairy and crop farming, and started a family. Lawrence was an active member of the St. James community all of his life, serving as a member of the Knights of Columbus, ADA, 4H, FFA, and the Holstein Association. Off the farm, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends.
