Lawrence "Larry" Hopp, a fiercely independent soul with a love for loud music, fast machines, and living life on his own terms, passed away in 2025 at the age of 73.

Born in 1951, Larry was the oldest son of Grace and Larry Hopp. From a young age, he carved his own path - never one to follow the rules just because they were there. He had a rebel heart and a deep appreciation for the raw, unfiltered parts of life - best expressed through the music of The Doors, whose lyrics spoke directly to his soul.

Larry wasn't just a fan of music - he lived it - a guitar player, drummer, bassist, keyboard player and vocalist, singer/songwriter, writing many originals and playing them on his Gibson Les Paul, and took his brother Chris on tour with 'The Victims' as a sound in 1979. He passed that passion on to his younger brothers Chris and Billy, teaching them how to play and helping them discover their own connection to music.

His love of cars and motorcycles ran just as deep. He shared a fondness for Chevrolet with his brothers, and enjoyed Harley-Davidsons alongside Jack - appreciating the roar of the engine and the freedom of the open road. He and his father built a chopper together in the late 60s, which is still in the family today. Larry also owned an Impala known for its powerful presence and ability to spin its tires - both the car and motorcycle were impossible to miss, and everyone knew when Larry was around, whether they wanted to or not.

Known for throwing weekend rock and roll parties at Van Dyk Place that shook the walls of Pequannock Township High School, Larry's gatherings were legendary - where music and mischief came alive, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.

A member of the Society of Explosive Engineers, he held a blaster's license in 3 states, NY, PA and NJ, and ran a company called A-1 Custom Blasting and Rock Drilling.

He was predeceased by his mother Grace, a nurse for 46 years, his father Lawrence, a welder and fabricator, and his brothers Jack and Billy. He is survived by his brother Chris (Jodi), his daughter Carmen, former partner Linda and 2 grandchildren, his sister-in-law Barbera, and his nephews Gabriel, Ryan, and Michael, who carry his spirit forward in their own ways. Larry believed in the Lord, accepting Jesus Christ as his lord and Savior.

Larry lived without compromise. He didn't ask for permission and never waited for approval. He was a mentor, a brother, a gearhead, and a free spirit who left behind more than memories - he left behind a way of being.
