Lawrence (Ed) Edwin Hubbard passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, in Vancouver, WA at the age of 81. Ed was born in Memphis, TN on December 9, 1943, to James (Ed) and Mary Allie Hubbard. Ed graduated from Lakewood High School (Colorado) and attended Colorado State prior to war. After returning from the Vietnam War, he graduated from Portland State University (Oregon) and went on to work at the US Geological Survey as a hydrologist for 35 years. He was drafted in 1966 with the United States Marine Corps as a Private E-1 assigned to Supply Corps, 5th Service Battalion, 5th Marine Division Camp Pendleton, CA which he served in the Vietnam War as an administrative man and chief clerk, which his rank was sergeant before his honorable discharge. He was awarded Rifle Expert Badge; National Defense Service Medal; Presidential Unit Citation; Vietnam Service Medal with one star; Vietnam Campaign Medal with device 1960.He is survived by his wife Margaret of 55 years, Dale; sister, and her husband Jeff, Jennifer; daughter, Paul; son and his wife Debra, one granddaughter; Grace and two grandsons; James and Evan. Ed had a longtime love of golfing, woodworking, Marine Corps enthusiast and working in the yard. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all that knew him. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Fairway Family Home Care, PeaceHealth Hospice (Vancouver) and to those who assisted him at the end of his life. Ed’s memorial will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church (1440 SE 182nd Ave, Portland, OR 97233) in Portland, OR on Saturday August 16, at 1 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to come and rejoice in remembering Ed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ascension Lutheran Church in Portland, OR or PeaceHealth Hospice in Vancouver, WA. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery.
