Lawrence Langweil, of Crofton MD, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. Larry is survived by daughters Helane DiGravio (Ricardo), Irene Langweil, Estelle Renee Palestino (Thomas), Janet Langweil (Jay), and brother Bill Langweil. He was predeceased by his wife, Sondra Langweil and his brother, Bernard Langweil. His six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren were the loves of his life.
Larry grew up in Brooklyn NY and moved several places with Sondra after marriage, most of them in New Jersey and Maryland. He graduated from NYU with a degree in Chemical Engineering, went into the Army, and then worked for the Federal Government for several years, culminating with the FAA. He was one of the very first SES candidates.
Larry had many outside interests. While living in Cherry Hill, he got his private pilot license. He loved boating (especially on the "Lady Sondra"), playing bridge, poker, tennis, racquetball, and chess. He loved travelling and travelled to most of the continents with Sondra. First, last, and always, he loved his family, and mostly his beloved wife, Sondra.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his honor to the Hospice of the Chesapeake https://www.hospicechesapeake.org/ or the Anne Arundel SPCA https://aacspca.org/.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 12-2 pm. A Celebration of Life service will immediately follow at 2 pm. Larry will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with his late wife, Sondra, at a future date.
