Lawrence Joseph Long, 54, of Cornelius, NC passed away on December 23, 2025.

Larry was born in New York on August 23, 1971 to the late James Barry Long and Patricia Long.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Barry Long, and his brother, Mark Long.

Larry is survived by his mother, Patricia Long; his sister, Maureen Long; and his brother, Brian Long.

Lawrence Joseph Long, “Larry”, maintained a positive life outlook while dealing with both physical and intellectual disabilities. He set modest goals; to live independently, to work, and to have relationships. He accomplished all of those and more. He was proud to have his own apartment, pickup truck, and source of income by continually working throughout his life. He was a very kind, considerate, and overly generous man who loved talking with everyone. After graduating high school on Long Island he put to use his loquacious, gregarious personality to first work in a funeral home on Long Island where he grew up. It was there where he honed his natural sympathetic and caring nature. Later he followed his sister, brother, and mother to Huntersville, NC and found pleasure working at a cinema in Birkdale Village where he greeted theater goers. He really looked forward to going into work and talking about movies with customers. He is survived by family who will miss him very much. While his death is too soon, his life is a testament to how much one can achieve if they lean-in on being a good person.
