Lawrence "Larry" W. McBride, age 75, of Dolton, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife, Beth, and his son, Jason (Veasna Kim). Larry was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend whose gentle spirit, sharp wit, and unwavering faith left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. Larry proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a Specialist E-4 in the United States Army. Following his military service, he pursued his passion for faith and learning by earning a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. Larry dedicated his professional life to public service, concluding a long and meaningful career in Social Services with Cook County, Illinois. His commitment to helping others was evident both in his work and in his personal life. A wake will be held at Leak & Sons Funeral Home in Country Club Hills, Illinois on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 6-8pm and on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 9-10am, with the funeral service following at 10am. After the funeral service, Larry will be laid to rest at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Larry's memory to a veterans' support organization of your choice.
