Lawrence Earl McFarlin, age 72, of Tryon, Oklahoma passed away at home on Monday, July 7, 2025.

He was born on January 13, 1953, in Fresno, California, to Henry and Velma McFarlin. Lawrence spent his teenage years in DeWitt, Arkansas, and after marrying his beloved wife Joanne on July 9, 1971, they lived in both Arkansas and California before settling in Glencoe and later Parkland, Oklahoma.

Lawrence had a strong work ethic and a varied career. Lawrence retired from National Standard after many years of hard work. After retirement, he worked alongside his kids doing lawn care, ran a taxi service with his wife, hauled loads as a truck and hotshot driver, and eventually opened and operated his own plumbing business.

He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. His faith was important to him; on July 27, 1970, he was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn by his father-in-law, Dewey Wright.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Velma McFarlin; his wife, Joanne; his daughter, Lora; and his son, Eric Perkins.

He is survived by his children: Larry McFarlin of Laurens, South Carolina; Candice Hartsoe of DeWitt, Arkansas; and Heather Focht of Perkins, Oklahoma; as well as his daughter-in-law, Tabitha Rupe of Cushing, Oklahoma. He was a proud grandfather to 19 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 4 great-grandchildren. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Palmer Marler Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at The General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn in Parkland, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in Parkland Cemetery.
