Lawrence "Gale" Myers 84, was born October 20, 1940 to Norman Lee Myers and Iva Loraine Harvey Myers in The Dalles, Oregon he was the third son with older brothers Leland and Gerald" Jerry" welcoming their baby brother into the family. The family lived in The Dalles, Oregon and then moved to Mount Vernon, Oregon where Gale graduated high school. In the 1950s while still living in Mount Vernon,OR Gale and his family worked together to build a log cabin in Granite Oregon.
Gale joined the Army in 1961where he served in Germany for 3years. During this time he learned mechanics and vehicle maintenance. He moved to Sumpter, Oregon with his family when they moved there in 1963 following his release from service.
Upon arrival in Sumpter, Oregon he met his future wife Linda Louise Bacon and they married September 5, 1964 and set up their loving home together in Granite, Oregon before moving to Sumpter,Oregon. They welcomed their daughter Tina Marie,[Bradley Alan Johnson] son Leonard "Troy " [DeeAnn Kibe] and daughter Dana Lyne [James Harvey] and later adopted daughters Freedom Renae and Jennifer Loraine after the family moved to Payette, Idaho.
Gale, his father and brothers started a logging business in Sumpter, Oregon called 4M Lumber Company they shared the responsibilities of running the business, with Gale cutting trees down, skidding trees, driving logging trucks, of which his favorite was the self- loader truck, running the saw mill and whatever else needed done. In 1979 Gale sold out of the family business and went to work driving long haul trucks for May Trucking Company hauling different loads across country. After a time he decided to go into the repair side of things for May Trucking and repaired trucks for a few years. He then went to Donoho Construction and drove dump trucks, loader, grader or whatever was needed, ran the rock crusher and did many repairs on the equipment as needed. During his time at Donoho Construction his son, Troy started working there as well so they spent a few years working together. After an eye injury that took his right eye he moved on to Digby trucking as their night mechanic where he stayed until retirement after Digby closed down. Retirement only meant not going out to work, because Gale kept fixing things and helping others to the very end.
Gale suffered a stroke in 2022 but was still able to fix anything he put his hands on, which was a great blessing. Gale passed away March 20, 2025 from a heart attack. Survivors include Gales wife Linda of 60 plus years, 5 children and their spouses and 17 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren, sisters-in-laws Nancy and Joy and Rose, many nieces and nephews all of whom will miss him very much. Gale was preceded in death by his parents, and both of his brothers.
