Lawrence Passmore Obituary

Lawrence Edward Passmore, affectionately known as Pop, went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2025, at the age of 91. He passed away peacefully at The Thomaston Manor under the compassionate care of Thomaston Hospice.

Pop was born on July 31, 1934, to Annie and Alexander Passmore, who, along with his twelve siblings and an infant child, preceded him in death. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.

He leaves behind a family who deeply loved and admired him: his sons and daughters-in-law, Rhett and Jessica Passmore and Mitchell and Katie Passmore; his grandchildren, Jesse Passmore, Kyler (Alex) Blount, Kadey (Josh) Fordham, Taylor (Levi) Blackston, Ayden (Brianna) Allen, Cole Passmore, Blake Ward, Austin Passmore, and Alex Passmore; his two precious great-grandchildren, Cora Jayne Fordham and Landri Allen, his sister-in-law, Sandra Passmore, special nephews, Al (Eun Mi) Passmore, Scott Passmore, and Ricky (Helga) Daniel, a special niece Melony (Hugh) Smith and many others.

Pop lived a life marked by hard work, humility, and faith. He was a proud and dedicated member of Local Union 926, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator until his retirement in 1996. He was known for his work ethic and integrity; a man who believed in doing things the right way, every time.

More than his work, Pop's greatest legacy was his faith and family. He was an old-fashioned father and grandfather who taught by example, instilling in his children and grandchildren the values of honesty, love, and respect. His wisdom and guidance will remain etched in their hearts forever.

Pop found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors, especially riding horses and fishing, and could often be found tinkering in his shop or keeping his yard perfectly manicured. He also enjoyed talking about history, politics, and Jesus. He was a man who loved the Lord and lived with the quiet confidence of someone who knew exactly where his true home was.

Though he will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort knowing that Pop has been reunited with his loved ones in Heaven, resting in the presence of the Savior he cherished.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 2:00 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1165 Hannahs Mill Rd, Thomaston, GA immediately followed by a burial service at the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery on Collins School Rd, Thomaston. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at 1:00 at Fellowship Baptist Church.
