LAWRENCE B. PATTERSON

COLUMBUS, OH - Lawrence B. "Larry" Patterson, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. A man of quiet strength and steadfast work ethic, Larry lived a life defined by service, skill, and the open road on his Goldwing. Born in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Wesley and Sadie Patterson, Larry grew up with a "no-nonsense" approach to life. He answered the call to serve his country as an Army Airborne Soldier with the 101st Airborne Division (Screaming Eagles), a role that demanded the discipline he carried throughout his life.

Following his military service, Larry dedicated himself to his career and his education, earning an Associate's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Columbus Technical Institute. He served as a supervisor with North American Rockwell, contributing to the B1-B Bomber project, and later worked as a Carman with the Norfolk and Western Railroad. Larry was a man who understood the value of a hard day's labor and took pride in the precision of his work.

Beyond his professional life, Larry was known to many as "Rat." An avid motorcyclist and longtime member of the Trojan's Motorcycle Club, he found his greatest sense of freedom on two wheels. His presence was a constant for his family and his brothers on the road.

Larry was preceded in death by his sons, Bill and Erik Patterson, and his brother, Ralph "Tootie" Patterson.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Saundra Patterson; his sons, Brian (Melissa) and David (fiancée Curlene); "daughter"-in-law, Lori Patterson; brother, David; sister, Patricia; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren who will remember him for his grit and his legacy of hard work.

Service Information: The service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Caliman Funeral Home, located at 3700 Refugee Road, Columbus, Ohio 43232. Bishop James Gaiters of Grace Apostolic Church will officiate.
