Lawrence "Larry" B. Reid, of Shorewood, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home on September 4, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.

Born in Montello, Wisconsin, Larry moved with his family to Minneapolis as a young child. He graduated from De LaSalle High School and went on to build a life defined by family, achievement, and an unrelenting drive to excel.

Larry was a successful new-car dealer who owned and operated four dealerships throughout his career. He served as President of the Greater Metropolitan Automobile Dealers Association (GMADA), the Local Chrysler Plymouth Dodge Advertising Association, and the Chrysler Dealer Council. His dealerships earned numerous accolades, including Chrysler's Pacesetter Award, Millionaires Club, and repeated recognition for top customer satisfaction with Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Buick, and GMC. Twice, he was ranked among the top fifty GMC dealers in the nation for sales.

Outside of business, Larry poured his energy into the things he loved most. He was an accomplished tournament bass fisherman, capturing numerous first- and second-place finishes, including the Gander Mountain Invitational and Minnetonka Bass Classic. For years, he held the record for the largest bass caught in tournament history-an 8.05 lb catch.

Whether fishing, golfing, boating, flying RC airplanes, or perfecting his homes, cars, and boats, Larry brought the same focus and determination he applied to his business. He sought out the very best tools, knowledge, and techniques, always striving for first place. His competitive spirit was natural, but so was his joy in the pursuit-he had a gift for mastering every passion he embraced.

Larry was preceded in death by his daughters Michelle and Teresa; parents George and Margaret; brother Bob; sister Peggy; and beloved dog Bailey.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Patricia (Pat); children Scott (Nancy) Reid and Christine (Bob) Schaffer Reid; grandchildren, Richelle (Tony) Garden, Brent (Anna) Reid, and Carson (Allie) Reid; and great-grandchildren, Vinny and Gia Garden, and Maddox and Peyton Reid.

Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2025 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 18323 Minnetonka Boulevard, Deephaven, MN 55391 with visitation one hour prior to Mass at church. Reception to follow at Wayzata Country Club, 200 Wayzata Boulevard West, Wayzata, MN 55391. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Shriners Hospital or Sharing and Caring Hands of Minneapolis.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Larry's caregivers, the St. Therese parish, priests, nuns, and all who supported him with love and comfort in his final days.
