L awrence "Larry" F. Sack was born on June 4, 1939, to John and Anna (Roth) Sack in
Brighton, Colorado. He passed away peacefully in his home of nearly 51 years on December 23, 2025.
Larry was raised on the family farm and dairy where he spent his days milking cows, working the fields, making memories with his family, and becoming the man we've all come to love and admire. He often shared memories of those early years, and we will not soon forget the stories of the best horse he ever had, the German shepherds that looked after the cattle, or the adventures he and Bob experienced while balancing school and sports with their daily chores. Larry graduated from Brighton High School in 1958 and shortly, thereafter, joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Upon his discharge, Larry met the love of his life. He married Diane Chambers on May 11, 1968 and they began their life together in a little house on the dairy. Larry was a dairy farmer until 1970, but pursued a variety of business ventures (including a service station in Lochbuie that he ran with his two brothers) until he was hired on with CDOT. After many years of dedicated service, he "retired" in 1992. Despite his status as a retired man, Larry continued to serve his community as a seasonal worker with the town of Hudson, caring for the parks and helping bring Christmas magic to life by checking each light/decoration for several more years.
When he eventually accepted full retirement, Larry spent extra time making sure his home was in tip-top shape and ensuring he had the best lawn/yard in Hudson (and quite possibly the surrounding areas). While his work at home was important, he made sure to leave plenty of time for his children and grandchildren, spending more hours than can be counted traveling to and from sporting events, school programs, camping/fishing trips, birthdays, holidays, and everything in between. He was always there. In his downtime, Larry could be found watching his favorite TV shows (as long as the game wasn't on), sitting on the front porch, reading his newspapers, and talking endlessly about the ventures of his younger years to anyone who would lend an ear.
Larry was a man of many ventures and talents but will be most remembered for his priorities of faith, family, and home. He was a gentle soul with an ambitious drive for tending to anyone and anything. Larry will forever be remembered for the love he shared, the work ethic he embodied, and the legacy that lives on in the family he built, the friends he held dear, and the community he has served for so many years.
Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Diane; children Dawn (Troy) Patton, Rick (Connie) Sack, and Gary (Tracie) Sack; grandchildren Morgan (Jaydee) Johnston, Courtney Patton, Wyatt (Addy) Patton, Logan Sack, Regan Sack, Tyler Sack, and Lindsay Sack; and great-grandchildren Xander and Xavier Johnston. He is also survived by his brother Albert (Rosan) Sack, sister Mary (Leo) Stadler, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Anna; sister Anna (Clarence) Herrman, and brothers John (Viola) Sack, Joe (Dolores) Sack, George (Dorothy) Sack, Leo (Virginia) Sack, Bob (Margo) Sack, and James Sack
